I had never heard this song before and yet...wow...it is like Taichi in a song... I have been rewatching and rereading the series lately with mainly the sole purpose of understanding why Taichi gets to me so much. On first watch I thought it was about him being the disadvantaged party in the love triangle, his constantly having to see who Chihaya becomes when she thinks about or sees Arata, but no: it's exactly this song. He is the most real character, the one whose thoughts, insecurities, fears, shame, and self loathing reach out to us the most. I never thought in theory that this would be a person I relate to, but the more he expresses how much he wants to be someone other than who he is, how his battle is with himself more than anyone else, and how he shows such an intense level of self awareness and strive to change make him such an endearing and heartbreaking character.

You know...I love this show. For the sportsmanship and characters, but....(SPOILER ALERT!) this pains me....how could she sideline Taichi till the very end!?!?! Just how?!?! He grew so much over the years. From that cocky kid to a strong leader and friend. I was hurt when by the end of s3, she really couldn't find it in her to see him in a romantic light. And that's honestly better than him being strung along but damn, I was hurt on his behalf🥲

No thanks, the writer seems to just want to make a tragedy, and make this guy suffer so much. I don't care for these tragic endings at all. And the fact that Taicho seems to have no chance at all, makes me not want to watch this, and hate Chihaya.
